Massively gay, but The Power of Love is one of the all time best christmas songs.
Well, a song that came out at that time of year anyway, as Santa isn't mentioned once.

Even as a kid I remember seeing that bloke with the perm and the mustache and thinking 'Why would someone want to look like that?'

Also gave their name to a very interesting Spectrum/C64 game. A sort of surreal, oblique arcade adventure, I've seen it mentioned a few times in terms of being a key example of early art videogames.

(In Alan Partridge mode) Idea for a programme: frankie (ie Holly Johnson) goes to Bollywood, Nollywood and all the other "woods" in both a travel programme and an expose about attitudes toward gay people in developing countries.

The porno moustache man's name was Paul Rutherford, and he had one of the best acid house tracks of all time:

I seem to remember that Relax was in the charts for quite some time and never really did anything. Then DJ Mike Read decided to ban it. Of course any publicity is good publicity and it shot to No 1. Guess they have the interfering Mike Read to thank for their success to an extent.

I was always fond of their cover of Born to Run. Rather amazing bass playing on that tune.

I remember them, having simultaneous no.1 and 2 in the same week.
Never really my cup of tea, but we're at the forefront of homosexual artists back in the eighties.

A pioneering group. Gary Numan waz the catalyst for Synth pop, but they took it into a completely different direction with astonishing results.
